The short version
- Your journal is encrypted before it's stored and never appears in our logs or admin tools.
- Your entries are decrypted only inside the app, and only to show, search or answer for you.
- For each question, only the relevant excerpts go to the AI model.
- We never sell your data, show ads, or use your journal to train AI models.
- Export everything or delete your account at any time.
What we collect
Account: your sign-in identity, kept by our authentication provider: your email and the name you give us. We don't keep a separate copy of either in our database.
Journal: your entries, and teammate, project and tag names, plus the questions you ask and the answers you get. All of it is encrypted before storage. We also keep your settings, such as theme and time zone.
Usage: counts such as entries saved and questions asked, with no content, to keep the service working and improve it. Feedback you send is readable by our team, and the form says so.
How we protect it
Everything travels over HTTPS. User content is encrypted with a key unique to your account, and that key is itself encrypted with a master key kept outside the database. Database dashboards, dumps and backups show only scrambled data.
Our logs and admin tools never contain journal text, questions or answers. Your entries are decrypted only inside the running app, and only when it needs them to show, search or answer for you.
What the AI sees
When you ask a question, we find the relevant entries and send only those excerpts, with your question, to the AI model that writes the answer. For a follow-up, the earlier questions and answers in that chat go too. Nothing else from your journal is sent.
If you add your own AI provider key in Settings, those excerpts go to the provider you chose, under your account and its terms. If you connect an AI tool with an access token, that tool can search and read your journal (and add entries, if you allowed it) until you revoke the token.
If you use the mic, your browser's built-in speech recognition turns your speech into text before anything reaches us. Depending on your browser, that may happen on the browser maker's servers, under its terms. MyLogMate never receives or stores audio.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, show ads or use your journal to train AI models. We don't read your entries, and our systems are built so we don't need to.
Teammates are private names in your journal. They're never contacted, and nothing about them is shared.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your theme. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your data and your rights
Export all your data as JSON or Markdown from Settings at any time.
Deleting an entry, teammate or project removes it from search too. Answers you already received are kept as they were, with the source marked as deleted.
Deleting your account removes your data, including those answers, and destroys your encryption key, so any copies remaining in our providers' backups become unreadable. Feedback you sent is kept, no longer linked to you.
You can see, correct, export and delete your data in the app at any time.
